About Solitaire

Solitaire, and more precisely Klondike, is the most famous single-player card game on Earth, the patient companion of countless office desktops. The goal is to move all 52 cards onto four foundation piles, sorted by suit from Ace to King. You build descending runs of alternating colours on the tableau, dig through the stock, and hope the hidden card you need is waiting underneath. This browser version brings the classic to life with smooth drag-and-drop, draw one or draw three rules, standard or Vegas scoring, and unlimited undo that turns every mistake into a lesson.

How to Play Solitaire

The game deals seven tableau columns with only the top card of each face up. Build tableau piles in descending order while alternating red and black suits, so a red Queen can sit on a black King. Move complete runs onto empty columns, and start each foundation with an Ace, building upward by suit until every card reaches the top. When the tableau stalls, draw from the stock one or three cards at a time depending on your chosen rule, and play any usable card from the waste pile. Standard scoring rewards moves to the foundations, while Vegas scoring turns the game into a slot machine with cash for every card moved up. Undo is always available, and you win when all four foundations run from Ace to King.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between draw 1 and draw 3?

Draw 3 deals the stock three cards at a time and is the classic, harder rule. Draw 1 deals single cards, giving you far more options per deal and a noticeably higher win rate, which makes it ideal for learning.

Are all Solitaire deals winnable?

No. A meaningful share of Klondike deals is unwinnable no matter how carefully you play. That is part of the challenge: when a deal turns hopeless, deal a fresh one and try again. Winning streaks come from patience, not from forcing a dead layout.

How does scoring work?

Standard scoring gives you points for moving cards to the foundations and small penalties for drawing from the stock. Vegas scoring works like a casino game: you pay to play and earn cash for every card moved up. Choose whichever mood suits you.
