About Simon Says

Simon Says carries the torch of the 1978 electronic toy that made pattern memory a living-room sport. Four coloured panels light up one after another, each with its own tone, and you must echo the sequence perfectly. Every round adds one more flash, and the sequence grows until your short-term memory runs out of track. Four decades on it remains one of the purest memory tests ever designed, with no vocabulary and no strategy guide, just watch, listen, and repeat. This Zapludo version keeps the classic green, red, yellow, and blue quadrants and gives each colour its own synthesized tone, so you can follow the pattern by ear. A Strict Mode toggle makes one wrong press end the game on the spot.

How to Play Simon Says

Press Start and the machine signals round one: a single panel lights up and plays its tone. Your turn is to press the panels in exactly the order you saw. Nail it and round two adds one more random flash, so each round you watch the whole pattern grow by a step and then replay it from the beginning. The tempo quickens as you climb, with flashes speeding up as you pass the early rounds and leaving less time to study each step. Make a mistake in normal mode and the sequence replays so you can try again; in Strict Mode the same mistake ends the game immediately, and your best round is saved in the browser. The arrow keys and W, A, S, D trigger the pads too.

Tips & Strategies

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between normal and Strict Mode?

In normal mode a wrong press flashes an error and replays the current sequence so you can try again. In Strict Mode any mistake ends the game immediately, and your final score is the round you reached before the error.

Does the game get faster as I play?

Yes. The flashes start at roughly 600 milliseconds per step and speed up gradually as your round count climbs, settling near 250 milliseconds at high rounds. Less time to watch means your memory has to work harder.

How is my high score saved?

Your best round is stored in the browser's local storage and restored every time you load the page, so there is always a record waiting to be beaten. Because it lives only on your device, clearing your browser data will reset it.
