Gem Match

Swap two neighbouring gems to line up three or more of the same kind. Matched gems vanish, everything above falls down, and if the falling gems line up again the combo keeps climbing. You have sixty seconds — how high can you score?

Tip: set up cascades for a big combo multiplier. Every cascade step multiplies the points.

About Gem Match

Gem Match is a match-three puzzle — a genre that has quietly become one of the most-played forms of entertainment on the planet. The idea is simple enough to explain in a sentence: swap two adjacent gems so that three or more of the same colour line up in a row or column, and they disappear. The depth comes from everything that happens next. When gems vanish, the ones above sink down and fresh gems fall in from the top, which can set off a chain reaction. A player who only looks for the obvious match scores okay. A player who arranges the board so that one swap sets off a four-step cascade scores enormously better. That gap between "finding a match" and "building a chain" is the whole game.

How to Play Gem Match

The board is an eight-by-eight grid of gems in six colours. Tap any gem to select it, then tap a gem directly beside it — above, below, left or right — to attempt a swap. If the swap creates a line of three or more matching gems, it sticks: the matched gems burst, the board collapses, and you score points. If it does not create a match, the two gems simply bounce back into place and you have lost nothing but a moment. Matches are found in both directions at once, so an L-shape or a T-shape clears every gem involved. Each cascade step multiplies the previous one, so the score counter can jump dramatically after a good setup. You have sixty seconds; spend them looking for swaps that keep the board healthy rather than chasing the single biggest immediate match.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a swap that makes no match cost me anything?

No. If the swap does not create a line of three, the gems automatically swap back and nothing is deducted. The only cost is the second you spent thinking about it.

What is a cascade combo?

A cascade is when the gems falling into a cleared space line up and match by themselves. Each consecutive cascade step multiplies the points of the previous one, so a well-built chain of four or five is worth far more than the same gems cleared separately.

Is Gem Match playable on a phone?

Yes. The board scales to fit the screen and every gem is a comfortable tap target. Tap to select, tap a neighbour to swap — no dragging required.
